The highlight of our recent presentation night was the awarding of life membership to James “Gus” Harvey. 2024 marked 40 years since James Harvey played his first game of cricket at Portarlington. With 40 years of distinguished service both on and off the field, James well and truly deserves the highest honour the Portarlington Cricket Club awards in Life Membership. Gus first played A Grade in 1992/93 and has continued to grace the field at Boat Road for over 30 years in senior cricket and has played in premierships along the way in a career that has almost reached 250 senior games. A true all rounder Gus’ highest score is 118n.o and best bowling is 7-36 both achieved in our B grade. James was also junior coordinator from 2014-2023 playing a pivotal role in the development of many talented juniors. James now also has the rare honour of being a life member of both the Football and Cricket clubs, which is a testament to his loyalty and dedication to Portarlington. We are delighted to have inducted James as our newest life member, Congratulations James and thank you for your contribution to our great club.
